Cell Groups
For the next 2 weeks all of our cell groups will be preparing for our up coming Cell Celebration on 15th October. Come ready to be creative with ideas of how we can make this the best cell celebration yet...

The winner of our breath holding competition was Grace Ford, with a staggering 55 seconds. In a worthy last place was Hannah Gundry with slightly less impressive 3 seconds

Timing reminder:
Year 10 Cell. It is Week A next week, so Year 10 Cell will be meeting on Wednesday (4th Oct) next week at 8.15pm. Finishing at 9.30pm.

Friday Pathfinders (younger)
Tonight (29th Sep) its a Friday Pathfinders first. Never seen before. We will be having our first ever.... POTATO NIGHT (try to contain your excitement)... Come ready to learn to juggle, play potato football, potato boule, potato pictionary and generally celebrate the humble spud.

It will the most potato based fun you have ever had.

Next week (6th October) will be Make a Film night, you will need to come dressed as your favourite film characters to create a masterpiece of epic proportions.

Friday Pathfinders (older)
Tonight (29th Sep) its Dark Games, think light house, murder in the dark, pegging in the dark and killer frisbee in the dark. Then come along tonight to have all that come true...

Next week (6th October) is Disney Night. We are expecting costumes worthy of Mulan, Simba and Moana.

Sunday Pathfinders
Sunday Pathfinders is on this week we will be looking at Hebrews 15:11 - 6:3. It is being led by Simon and Angela. Make sure you remember to bring your Sunday Pathfinders bibles, you will have things to take away in them and you will need them to make notes!!

CYFA

CYFA is back this Sunday. We will be thinking about communion. What is it and why do we do it. It will be being led by Olly and Claire.

Consent forms!
General
By next week, we need consent forms from everyone who attends any of our groups. Please could everyone print out the consent form below and make sure to bring it to the next St. Leonard's activity you come to!

Soul Survivor
Even more exciting than normal consent forms (I know hard to believe that such a thing exists), the Soul Survivor Consent forms are now out! If you want a printed copy, ask Olly for one or you can download them from here:

On the 8th October Bishop Colin is coming to our church and we are having confirmation service. Even more excitingly some of our crew are signed up to get confirmed! So make sure you have that date in your diary.

If you are interested in getting baptised or confirmed, come and have a chat with Olly or get in touch with our Vicar Duncan. We'd love to chat to you about it.

22nd - 29th September

Coming up next week...
September is nearly over. October is looming its chilly yet jolly head. Here is what is in store for St. Leonard's Youth this week...
Cell Groups
Last week Year 7-11 Cell groups look at what it actually means to be a Christian. Year 12-13 Cell groups looked at Baptism and Confirmation. Here is what cells will be doing this week:

  • Year 7 - 11 Cells:  We will be looking Baptism and Confirmation. What it is and why do we do it?
  • Year 12 - 13 Cells: We will be looking at The Creed. Have you ever really thought about 'the creed' that gets said in churches? Do we really believe everything that is said? What does it all actually mean? Find out next week in another exciting addition of cell groups...

Timing reminder:
Year 10 Cell. It is Week B, so Year 10 Cell will be meeting on Thursday (28th Sep) next week at 7.15pm. Finishing at 8.30pm.

Friday Pathfinders (younger)
Tonight (22nd Sep) its Music night (and the feeling's right). Every little thing we do will be magic and involve music of one kind or another. If, like me, you don't know what is in the top 10 charts at the moment, it might be worth finding out.

Next week (29th Sep) will be POTATO NIGHT! A first for Friday Pathfinders, and probably the world over...

Friday Pathfinders (older)
Tonight (29th Sep) the night will be twofold. First we will play some games of the classic verity. Next we will come up with some ideas for what we want to do with the rest of the term.

Next week (29th Sep) will very much depend on what plans we come up with this week.

Sunday Pathfinders/CYFA
There is no Sunday Pathfinders or CYFA this week. It is however an All Age Worship at church and I hear they have an excellent person doing a little talk...

Consent forms!
General
Now we have had our first full and proper week back in the youth work, we really need everyone's consent forms. If you haven't managed to get one filled out yet, please can you download it from below and bring it along with you next time you come to anything.

Soul Survivor
Even more exciting than normal consent forms (I know hard to believe that such a thing exists), the Soul Survivor Consent forms are now out! So, look out for them at your next cell/pathfinders session, or download them from here:

Soul Survivor Consent Forms and letters

Baptism and Confirmation...
This Sunday 24th September Naomi McCobb is getting baptised down at the Mill at around 2pm (after a picnic). So come along to both if you can.

On the 8th October Bishop Colin is coming to our church and we are having confirmation service. Even more excitingly some of our crew are signed up to get confirmed! So make sure you have that date in your diary.

If you are interested in getting baptised or confirmed, come and have a chat with me or get in touch with our Vicar Duncan. We'd love to chat to you about it.

14th - 22nd September

Coming up next week...
We are just at the end of our first full week back in full swing things and it feels good to be back! Here is some information you might need to know...
Cell Groups
Cell groups all started back with a social and a bit of a catch up. We've had some new leaders join the team which has been brilliant. Here is what cells will be doing this week:

  • Year 7 - 11 Cells:  We will be looking at what it actually means to be a Christian. Are we following Christ? Are we following Ian? All these mysteries and more should be sorted out by the end of this cell session.
  • Year 12 - 13 Cells: We will be looking at Baptism and Confirmation. Ever wondered what baptism and confirmation are actually about and why we do them? Wonder no more. Just come to cell!
Both topics are very Christian sounding, but since we are a church youth group, I think we can probably get away with it...

Timing reminders:
Year 10 Cell. It is Week B, so Year 10 Cell will be meeting on Wednesday (20th Sep) next week at 8.15pm. Finishing at 9.30pm.

Year 11 Cell. next week Year 11 Cell will be starting with its new start time of 3.50pm, finishing at 5.

Friday Pathfinders (younger)
This Friday (15th Sep) its Ice Breaker night. Come dressed up warm and ready to get to know people just that little bit better. No frozen pants this year, I promise. Can't promise I haven't frozen some other items of clothing though.

Next week (22nd Sep) will be music night. Get ready to flex those musical muscles.

Friday Pathfinders (older)

Tonight  (15th Sep) its Ice Breaker night, just like at younger. And in the same way, I can promise there won't be any frozen pants. I can't however promise that there won't be any ice...

Sunday Pathfinders
This week Sunday Pathfinders is on!! We will be talking about giving and it will be lead by Lisa and Olly. Make sure you remember to bring your Pathfinders Bibles, you will need them! (if you don't have one yet you will get one this week).

Cyfa

Is on this week! So make sure you are there and bring a bible. It will be all about Baptism and Confirmation (noticing at theme here? Should set you up for cell). It's being led by Nick and Steve.

Baptism and Confirmation...
You might be noticing a theme in some of what we are doing over the next week and... wait... there's more...

On the 24th September Naomi McCobb is getting baptised down at the Mill at around 2pm (after a picnic). Make sure its in the diary and if you are around come along and support her. Also, make sure you bring swimming stuff! Can't have a baptism without having a swim afterwards (I'm pretty sure that's in the bible somewhere).

Then, on the 8th October Bishop Colin is coming to our church and we are having confirmation service. Even more excitingly some of our crew are signed up to get confirmed! So make sure you are around for that too.

If you are interested in getting baptised or confirmed come and have a chat with me or get in touch with our Vicar Duncan. We'd love to chat to you about it.

First blog of the year...

Coming up next week...
Here is the first blog of the year. This week has been mostly filled with leaders meetings for all of our groups, but next week everything starts back properly. Here is some information you might need to know...
Cell Groups
Cell groups will be starting back next week (W/B 11th Sept). Most groups will be meeting at the same times and the same places as before the summer, but, just to keep it interesting, there are 2 exceptions:

  • Year 8 (was year 7) Cell is now moving from being on Monday nights at 7.15pm to being on Thursday nights at 7.30pm. Still at the Ferrier's house.
  • Year 10 (was year 9) Cell is moving days and locations. Its much more complicated but since you're so old and wise, you should be able to handle it. Instead of our old slot of 3.15pm on Mondays, we are now going to alternate between Wednesday nights at 8.15pm and Thursday nights at 7.15pm (think of it like weeks A and B at school if that helps). So starting next week, we will be having cell at 7.15pm on Thursday night (14th September). Then the week after we will have it on Wednesday (20th) at 8.15pm and so on and so forth. We are also changing locations. We will now be meeting at the Harrington's house. I will be emailing your parents with the address later today.

Friday Pathfinders
Friday Pathfinders (Older and Younger) both start back next week! Lets hope its warmer than today because we will be playing ice breaker games...

Sunday Pathfinders

This week Sunday Pathfinders is on!! We are welcoming some newbies to the group and going through what it means to be part of Sunday Pathfinders. We also have a present for you all so make sure you are there!

Dates for the dairy
Since its the first blog of the year I thought you might want to know some of the big dates for this academic year:

23rd - 25th March - is our annual Youth Weekend Away!! This is for anyone who is involved in the youth work and we always have an amazing time. Make sure you don't book anything else for this date.

24th - 29th August - we are heading for Soul Survivor. Anyone who is in year 9 and above is allow to come with us, so keep your holiday free. There is also a slight chance that we may need to head down on the evening of the 23rd, but we will confirm that closer to the time.
